THE abduction of businessman Jordan Chua was well planned by an organized crime group, said the police Monday.
Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Noppo) has established that Chua’s abductors who were onboard a silver gray Toyota Grandia van exited in Murcia and passed through the Don Salvadaor Benedicto highway.
Police Chief Inspector Jefferson Descallar, Noppo spokesman, said they have already identified one of the kidnappers, but refused to name the suspect for security reasons.
Descallar said they could not yet stick on one motive for the abduction of the businessman, who is considered a fishing magnate in Zamboanga.
Chua is well-known in the business community in Bacolod City and that he reportedly engaged in the buy and sell of luxury vehicles. He is one of the few Bacoleños who own a private car version of the Hammer Head Luxury car.
Joel Arroyo, Chua's biking buddy who was shot by the suspects when he tried to help his friend, is still confined at Bacolod Adventist Hospital as of Monday.
Police security personnel are deployed at the hospital since the victim was admitted last March 6.
Chua was abducted by four still unknown suspects riding in a van without a plate number.
Descallar said police continue to track down the whereabouts of Chua.
He clarified though that there is no truth to reports that the suspects have demanded some P150 million as ransom in exchange for Chua's freedom.
He said the police respects the right of the Chua family for the security of their son.
Jordan is the only son in the family, according to some close family friend of the Chuas.
Descallar also said the victim did not notice that he was allegedly being trailed by the suspects before the abduction happened.
Task Force Jordan was already formed by the police to search and rescue Chua.
The police trackers went to as far as Kanlaon City to check on the possible presence of the suspects but they failed to locate the victim.
Noppo Director Manuel Felix appealed to the public Monday to immediately report to the police any information that may lead to Chua’s rescue and the arrest of the suspects. (TED)
