CIAC: ‘Try Clark airport’

John Kevin D. Pilapil

CLARK FREEPORT – "Try using Clark International Airport in Pampanga to avoid traffic congestions and flight delays."

The Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) issued the message urging passengers in the North Philippines to use Clark Airport to avoid any inconveniences on their flights.

CIAC president Emigdio Tanjuatco III said low cost carriers and full service airlines are arriving in Clark on time.

He cited that Qatar Airways arrives ahead of its 9:20 a.m. schedule while Qatar Airways arrives as early as 8:10 a.m. at Clark Airport.

"This is one of the many factors why Clark Airport has an advantage to other airports in the country today," Tanjuatco said.

Tanjuatco advised passengers to arrive at the airport two hours before their flights to avoid any inconveniences and enjoy the comfort of the facilities at Clark Airport.

He admitted there is a need to invite more airlines by adding more international and domestic flights to serve passengers in the Northern Luzon area.

"We are currently in talks with other air carriers with the possibility of adding more flights at Clark Airport, as we have a Passenger Terminal that can accommodate as much as five million passengers annually," he said.

He said he is currently talking with Philippines Air Asia and Emirates Airlines to encourage them to return to Clark Airport.

Air Asia and Emirates temporarily suspended their operations in Clark in 2013.

CIAC had established a passenger lounge at Robinsons Starmills in the City of San Fernando so that passengers may go directly to Clark Airport and vice-versa.

Similar lounges were also established at Ayala owned Trinoma Mall in Quezon City and at the SM City Clark.

Clark Airport has a 3.2-kilometer parallel runways, which can accommodate large aircrafts such as Airbus A-380 commercial aircraft.

Clark Airport is host to airlines such as Qatar Airways, Asiana Airlines, Dragonair, Air Asia Berhad, Cebu Pacific Air, Tiger Air, Jin Air and Seair.
