City Council asks help of Bing, Road Board on tourism lights

Ian Jefrey Addatu

THE City Council has passed a resolution requesting the Office of the Road Board through the Office of Bacolod Representative Evelio Leonardia to help in the installation or rehabilitation of tourism lights along the major streets of the city.

The resolution was authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairperson of the City Council Committee on Government Assets.

The resolution cited the rehabilitation of tourism lights along Lacson Street (from Talks at boundary to Magsaysay Avenue), Araneta Street (from Bago City boundary to Bacolod Public Plaza), Carlos Hilado Highway - Circumferential Road (Cegasco to Banago), Bacolod Murcia-Alijis Road (Murcia boundary to Araneta Street), San Juan Street (Gonzaga Street - Puno Banago).

It said that in the city of Bacolod, infrastructure developments are ongoing and most of them produced rewarding results, however, these roads still need sufficient lightings and early warning devices to assure the safety and security of the road users.

The present condition of these streets serve as good spots for criminal activities like robbery, considering that the lights are already unserviceable and that people usually wait for PUVs along them.
