CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The City Government here is set to start the pro-environment initiative aimed to transform sections of Jose Abad Santos Avenue (Jasa) here into a "green avenue."

This came as the government officials here led by Mayor Oscar S. Rodriguez led the ground breaking ceremonies for the said project dubbed "Greening of Jose Abad Santos Avenue Project" last Tuesday at the Jasa rotunda near Paskuhan Village.

"This initiative aims to transform this area into a "green avenue." Since this is section of Jasa is the show window among commuters passing by the City of San Fernando, it is appropriate that we make the area as pleasing to the eye as possible," Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said the project is in partnership with the El Circulo Fernandino and the Multi-Sectoral Governance Council (MSGC)-Committee on Environmental Management.

The project will see to the planting of green shrubs, flowering plants and trees through the help of the city's environmental partners. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
