Comelec cleanses Zamboanga voters’ list

AN OFFICIAL of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) revealed that they recorded a declined in number of regular and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters in Zamboanga City.

Lawyer Stephen Roy Cañete, District 1 election officer, said this came after they have cleansed the list of voters of double registrants, transferees, without biometrics, and those who have died.

Cañete said the registered regular voters in District 1 have declined by 388 from 226,452 to 226,064 electorates. The registered voters for SK have also declined by 2,934 from 76,740 to 73,806.

In the second district, the number of registered regular voters have declined by 3,019 from 213,208 to 210,189 while the SK have declined by 2,815 from 70,021 to 67,206.

Lawyer Lerdo Matildo Jr., who is the election officer in the second district, is on official leave of absence.

Cañete said they are ready for the conduct of Barangay and SK elections this year.
