Comelec rules on campaign ads supported

John Kevin D. Pilapil

ANGELES CITY -- A barangay chairman in this city has vowed to implement the guidelines set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on campaign advertisement and posters.

Rodelio Mamac, who is running for mayor in this city, said he will remove the campaign materials of national and local political candidates posted in places outside of common poster areas.

The local Comelec office has designated common poster areas all over the city but politicians continue to post their campaign ads indiscriminately, Mamac said.

The Comelec also prohibits the posting of any campaign materials on electric posts and trees. It has also set a size for posters that will be used as campaign materials.

Mamac has denounced other national and local candidates for violating and ignoring the Comelec rules on campaign ads.

“How can you trust and elect these people if they cannot follow simple law,” Mamac said pointing to political candidates.

He added that he will file charges against candidates who will be found violating the Comelec rules on campaign materials.
