Comelec to candidates: share poster areas

Sunnexdesk

WITH the start of the campaign period for the national bets, political parties and independent candidates are battling not only for the people’s votes but for spaces in the designated common poster areas.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Regional Director Julius Torres said it will be up to the strategy of the candidates if they occupy the whole common poster areas designated to them.

“It will be up to them on how they will post their posters but I advise them to share with (the) other candidates,” Torres said.

Torres advised politicians not to take advantage of the availability of trees in the city for their posting since the Comelec prohibited it.

He added that the Comelec and other deputized agencies will monitor the common poster areas.

Baguio Police City director Agripino Javier said they are waiting for the guidelines and directives regarding dismantling of posters for those who would violate it.

Meanwhile, Torres clarified there is no such thing as premature campaigning in this year’s election as a candidate is only considered a candidate at the start of the campaign period.
