Cop shot dead by wife in Dumaguete City

A POLICEMAN was shot to death by his wife inside their house at Rosario Heights, Barangay Junob in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental Tuesday night.

Police identified the fatality as Police Officer 3 Jay Samson Jardenico, a personnel of Regional Health Services of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region.

Investigation showed the victim, who was drunk when he arrived home around 10 p.m., shouting and kicking the gate, leading to a misunderstanding with his wife.

Jardenico’s wife took his service firearm inside their vehicle to threaten him. His wife then pulled triggered and hit him.

Jardenico was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

His wife voluntarily surrendered to the police. His service firearm with three magazines was also turned over to the police.

Superintendent Jovito Atanacio, chief of Dumaguete City Police Station, said parricide charges are being readied against the suspect, who is detained at the station.
