THE Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) remains supportive of the martial law in Mindanao even as the Marawi crisis has ended, paving the way for clearing and rehabilitation operations.

Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, RPOC chairperson, said the council will take the cue from President Rodrigo Duterte with regard to the implementation of martial law.

The President has implemented martial law throughout Mindanao when the Isis-inspired Maute terror group laid siege in Marawi City on May 23.

President Duterte declared the fighting is over in Marawi City following the death last week of Maute group leader Omar Maute and Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon.

“Definitely, we await the order of the President regarding martial law in Mindanao. So far, in the city of Zamboanga the people (Muslims, Christian and Lumad) have cooperated in the ‘No ID, No Entry’ policy,” Salazar said.

The policy was implemented to prevent the entry of terrorists in the city at the height of the crisis in Marawi.
