THE Davao Security and Investigation Agency, Inc. (Dasia) stunned defending champion Escandor Development Corporation (Esdevco)-Genesis 88, 78-75, in the resumption of the Escandor Cup 2016 Basketball Tournament at the Genesis 88 Gym Sunday.

Esdevco-Genesis 88 took a one-point lead, 40-39, at the break with Francis Gabriel Escandor leading the charge with a total of 14 points in two quarters.

But when action resumed, both teams engaged in a hill-to-hill battle, forcing a deadlock in the final minute of the game.

Dasia, however, stayed tough down the stretch to pull off with the win despite Esdevco's reliable father-and-son tandem of Glenn and Francis. The younger Escandor drilled in 25 points as his father added 10.

Dasia, thus, improved to a clean 2-0 win-loss record while Esdevco-Genesis 88 dropped to 1-1 in the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP)-sanctioned cagefest.

In other games, The Royal Mandaya Hotel (TRMH) bounced back from a first game loss by routing Premia Packaging, 78-65, while Whitehouse survived a 69-66 victory over Kadsia to grab its second straight win.

Games will resume on Sunday. Cash prizes await winners of the tournament organized to forge camaraderie and sportsmanship among employees of the Escandor Group of Companies.
