Dead patient’s pa says he’s receiving threats

John Roger "Darlah" Orquiza

THE father of a woman pregnant with twins who died at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City said he is receiving threats.

Jose Penario, father of the 21-year-old Mary Joy Geronca, said a text message from an unidentified sender warned him to be careful.

Penario said whoever is behind such act should identify himself or herself so things can be clarified.

He added that the incident gives him the courage to fight for justice for his daughter and unborn grandchildren.

Penario said they brought his daughter to CLMMRH on January 17, but she died the following day.

Special Investigator 3 William de Arca of National Bureau of Investigation-Bacolod said they will exhume Geronca’s body on Tuesday.

De Arca said Penario has submitted all the documents related to his daughter’s death.

After the exhumation, an autopsy will be conducted.
