THE Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) will commemorate the 269th death anniversary of its foundress, Venerable Ignacia del Espiritu Santo today.

A Eucharistic Celebration will take place at the RVM Regional House (Visayas), followed by a brief program and formation of new members.

Members of both the RVM Community and the Mother Ignacia Movement (MIM) are enjoined to attend this commemoration rite.

The Mother Ignacia Movement (MIM) was organized more than 10 years ago, mostly by lay persons and the RVM Community to create awareness and generate interest in the ultimate aim of Beatification of Mother Ignacia, who has already been elevated to “Venerable.” Only one more step is required for her to attain sainthood.

Those interested in joining MIM can attend mass for this intention every First Saturday of the month every 8:45 a.m. at the Sto. Rosario Parish on P. Del Rosario St., Cebu City.

As a brief background on Mother Foundress, she was born in Binondo, Manila of Chinese-Filipino parents in the year 1663. As a pretty and prayerful young girl, she felt that she was destined for something deeper, and dedicated herself to God. After much discernment, and after overcoming many obstacles, she finally founded her congregation, the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM). (PR)
