Disaster Consciousness Month launched

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The Regional Disaster Coordinating Council (RDCC) in Central Luzon launched Friday the National Disaster Consciousness Month.

Philippine National Police Regional Office III Director and concurrent RDCC Chairman Arturo Cacdac, Jr. and Regional Director of the Office of Civil Defense Neri Amparo, led the officials and employees of different National Government agencies and local government units in the kick-off ceremonies of the observance of the disaster consciousness month.

The launching was formally opened by celebrating the holy mass at Camp Olivas Chapel attended by RDCC members.

Cacdac imparted a brief message, emphasizing on the importance of sharing the awareness to stakeholders and the citizenry.

"It is better be aware and prepared from disasters rather than being sorry," Cacdac said. He likewise thanked the different government agencies members of the RDCC for their unstinting support to the council.

Meanwhile, Amparo as the executive officer of the RDCC III stressed the fact that disaster-preparedness is everybody's concern and it is the government's duty to keep the people prepared from any disastrous occurrences.

The Regional Disaster Coordinating Council is composed of different national and local government entities, civic and private organizations. It is tasked with disseminating information on disasters, natural or man-made, evacuation and rescue missions, relief and rehabilitation and disaster mitigation activities. (DPL)
