Do-or-die for Aces, Painters

Wenilyn Sabalo, Herty B. Lopez

IT'S now or never for both Rain or Shine and Alaska Aces as they battle Saturday in a winner-take-all match in Game 5 of the best-of-five semifinal series of the 39th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor's Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Both the Elasto Painters and the Aces are locked in a 2-2 deadlock in the best-of-five series following Rain or Shine's 123-121 overtime victory last Thursday.

Coach Yeng Guiao's team also won Game 2 (99-87), but lost Game 1 (93-97) and Game 3 (104-94).

Odds are about even when they collide in a lone game set at 5 p.m.

The winner will face either San Mig Coffee or Talk 'N Text in the best-of-five titular series starting Monday.

Guiao will lean on import Arizona Reid, who led all scorers in Game 4 with 32 points, while as Beau Belga and Paul Lee each finished with 21 points and combined for 14 rebounds.

He called Alaska import Henry Walker, a menace to the league after hitting Paul Lee with an elbow at the back of the head that caused the former NBA player's ejection for a Flagrant Two foul still 6:24 remaining in the fourth period. Walker is summoned at commissioner Chito Salud's office today to explain his side.
