Drug pusher, 3 others shot dead in Toledo drug bust

A SUSPECTED drug pusher and three others were killed in a shootout with police during a drug bust at Sitio Sta. Ana., Poblacion, Toledo City in Cebu around 2 a.m. Wednesday, August 3.

Toledo police led by Superintendent Samuel Velenzuela Mina Jr. and members of the anti-illegal drugs special operation task force shot and killed Jerome Layan Gara, 49, and three unidentified men.

Gara was the subject of the drug bust led by Mina, together with intel operatives and Special Weapons and Tactics members.

Police said that Gara and the three others pulled out their respective short firearms after sensing the policemen.

Recovered from the scene were 23 sachets of shabu with an estimated weight of 100 grams and worth P500,000, drug paraphernalia, a digital weighing scale worth P2,050, one .45 caliber pistol, three.38 caliber revolver with live bullets, and three steel magazines.
