Drug surrenderer in Dumaguete shot

A DRUG surrenderer in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental was shot by an unidentified man on Thursday, November 17.

Police identified the victim as Carlito Iligan, 25, of Barangay Piapi.

Iligan was attacked by the assailant using an unknown firearm, and is confined at a hospital.

Police have yet to determine the motive of the incident but they are considering it as a drug-related incident.

Investigation is ongoing.

Drugs seized

In another development, five persons were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Negros Island Region in the past two days.

In Negros Occidental, Niño Crisanto Estelloso, 34, of Purok 5, Rock Crusher, Barangay 4, Himamaylan City, was arrested on November 16 after he yielded three sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and the P500 marked money.

Estelloso, who has surrendered through Oplan Tokhang, is under the city’s street and local target drugs list.

The recovered illegal drugs weighed five grams with an estimated value of P50,000.

Joffrey Roble, 39, of Purok Maabi-abihon, Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City, was collared on November 17 after he sold shabu to a police agent for P500.

Police also recovered from Roble two sachets of shabu, the P500 marked money, and a cellular phone.

Over at Manapla town, Brandon Batislaon, 43, of Barangay Punta Salong was arrested after police raided his house through a search warrant issued by Judge Ana Celeste Bernard of Regional Trial Court in Silay City.

Police seized from Batislaon two sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia, and a cellular phone.

In Bacolod City, Ana Marie Soqueño, 45, was arrested at Purok Star Apple, Barangay 27 on Wednesday for sale and possession of illegal drugs.

Police seized from Soqueño four sachets of shabu and the P500 marked money.

In Negros Oriental, Gerald Gomez, 37, of Barangay Pulopantaw, Jimalalud town, was collared in a buy-bust at Barangay Cantupa, La Libertad town on Thursday that led to the recovery of three sachets of shabu and the P500 marked money.

A member of an alleged organized group in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental was arrested for illegal possession of hand grenade.

Police identified the suspect as Edmund Sala, 47, of Purok 2, Barangay Bulwangan.

Senior Inspector Leomel Gonzaga, chief of Hinoba-an Municipal Police Station, said the search warrant served to Sala was issued by Judge Rodney Magbanua of Regional Trial Court Branch 61 in Kabankalan City.

Sala is facing charges for illegal possession of explosives.
