Duterte meets peace panel to map out talks with NPA

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has met with Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza and peace panel chair Silvestre Bello III for possible talks with the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and other radical groups.

In a meeting at the Malacañang's Aguinaldo Room on Monday afternoon, Dureza presented to Duterte a roadmap to peace with CPP, New People's Army (NPA), National Democratic Front (NDF), and other rebel groups.

The President officiated the oath taking of four new members of the peace panel, after the discussion on the peace roadmap.

The four new members who were sworn in include Hernani Braganza, and lawyers Rene Sarmiento, Angela Trinidad, and Noel Felongo.

Also present in the meeting were the security cluster on security, justice and peace composed of National Security adviser Hermogenes Esperon, Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, Solicitor General Jose Calida, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, and Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella.

Davao del Norte Representative Pantaleon Alvarez and Senator Aquilino Pimentel III also attended the meeting. (Sunnex)
