Easier, flatter course set for 6th All-Women Ultramarathon

THE 6th edition of the All-Women Ultramarathon (Awum) will feature a flatter course after the organizers skipped the segment going up to Nivel Hills, Apas Cebu.

The organizers said that the route this year will be the flattest in all six years of the event. The 6th Awum is set on March 11, which will start and end at the Il Corso Grounds, South Road Properties in Cebu City.

One of the organizers, Tony Galon, said that the route is relatively the same as last year minus the Marco Polo part.

“The runners will pass by Labangon area going to Capitol, Gorordo then JY Square,” he said.

The 50-kilometer ultramarathon will cover the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu. The race, organized by Think Tank as part of the celebration of Women’s Month, will be joined by 300 hardcore runners.

The 6th Awum set a record after selling out all the 300 slots in just 10 minutes last January, eclipsing the feat in 2016 which was 250 slots in 26 minutes.
