Ex-Binalbagan councilman shot dead

John Paul Villanueva

A FORMER councilman of Barangay Binalbagan, Canlaon City in Negros Oriental was gunned down by two unidentified men on a motorcycle past noon on Sunday.

Superintendent Frankie Lugo, chief of Canlaon City Police Station, said Anias Luceno, 64, and his son-in-law were riding a motorcycle on their way home from church when the assailants fired at Luceno.

Luceno was brought to a clinic, where he was declared dead.

Police recovered at the crime scene three bullets and a deformed slug of .45 caliber.

Lugo said they already have a lead in the identities of the assailants.

Police are eyeing vengeance as the motive since Luceno has a homicide case in 2013, he added.
