A FORMER village official was killed in a gun attack in the hinterlands of Basilan province, the police reported Wednesday.

Superintendent Albert Larubis, Isabela City police chief, identified the fatality as Mas-ud Sappari, the former village chief Matikang, Lantawan, Basilan.

Unscathed were Sappari's wife and two daughters whose identities Larubis has withheld.

Investigation showed that Sappari was driving his motorcycle with his wife and daughters when one of two men aboard another motorcycle shot them around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in the village of Kumalarang, Isabela City.

The suspects then took Sappari's motorcycle and a clutch bag and sped toward Isabela City, leaving behind the victims' family members. (Bong Garcia)
