Fernandinos urged to donate supplies for Marawi teachers

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The City Government here headed by Mayor Edwin Santiago urged Fernandinos to donate school materials for the benefit of teachers in devastated Marawi City.

The program dubbed “Marawi Teachers' Kit Campaign” aims to provide assistance for displaced educators and also students in the conflict-stricken Marawi City, Santiago said.

Under the program, Fernandinos are encouraged to donate any school supplies such as chalk, pens and pencils, all kinds of papers and coloring materials and other essentials that can help make learning centers conducive again.

“Simula nung sumiklab ang giyera sa Marawi, maraming infrastructure ang nasira, katulad ng eskwelahan. At ngayon, hirap makabalik sa pagtuturo ang mga teachers natin doon dahil sa kakulangan sa materials kaya hinihikayat natin ang bawat Fernandino na mag-donate,” Santiago said.

He added that the city government is accepting donations that may be dropped in the “Marawi Teachers’ Kit Campaign” box at city hall until Sunday, September 10.

The Department of Education (DepEd) Pampanga Division also accepts donations for those who wish to direct the materials to them.

On Monday, September 11, the city government will forward the collected donations to DepEd Central Office for proper identification of beneficiaries.
