AN OFFICIAL of the National Food Authority (NFA) was shot and killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported.

The Zamboanga Peninsula Police Office (ZPPO) said the incident took place around 8 a.m. Wednesday in the village of Tiguma, Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.

The victim was identified as Rosalinda Pajente, operations officer of the NFA in Zamboanga del Sur.

Investigation showed that Pajente was aboard a motorcycle-for-hire locally known as “habal-habal” when chased and shot by one of two men riding tandem on another motorcycle.

Pajente was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.

The Pagadian City police are eyeing two possible motives in the killing: either personal grudge or job-related. (Bong Garcia)
