A MALAYSIAN businessman was wounded after he was mauled by three men during a drinking session in Barangay Sibacan, Danao City, Cebu late Sunday afternoon.

Apavoo Somasundram, 49, of Antipolo, Rizal, ended up losing a tooth and suffering several bruises.

Supt. Elmer Lim, head of the Danao City Police Station, said the victim reportedly challenged his drinking companions after he lost in the card game “piyat-piyat.”

“Nag-maoy kuno ingon ang mga naka-witness didto (The victim became wild according to witnesses),” he told Sun.Star Cebu.

Complaint

Before the incident, Somasundram reportedly went to the barangay to visit his ex-girlfriend.

He then had a drink with residents and decided to play the card game. Their bet was only P1.

Lim said the mauling took place past 5 p.m. Somasundram went to police at 7:52 p.m. to report the incident.

Police detained Robin Casona Jr., 30; Giovanni Casona, 32; and Leonardo Casona, 45, in relation to the incident.

Police are preparing a complaint for serious physical injuries against the three men. (Sun.Star Cebu was not able to determine if the three are related.)

As for Somasundram, he had his injuries treated at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Danao City.

“Gusto ta mo-settle ni ang mga Casonas pero willing man mofile ang Malaysian national (The Casonas would have wanted to settle amicably but Somasundram is willing to file a case against them),” Lim said. (DSM)
