COLLECTION of garbage fees might soon be delegated to treasurers of homeowners' associations in Baguio subdivisions.
To increase collection of garbage fees at the household level, Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda is proposing that homeowners' associations be mandated to collect garbage fees from their members and remit the collections to the City Treasurer's Office.
Tabanda proposed that an authorized representative could collect and remit within 15 days the amount collected.
As an incentive, the association may be given a share of 10 percent of the total collections. The amount will be automatically deducted from the amount due, Tabanda said in a proposal.
If approved, the city treasurer will be tasked to orient and deputize association treasurers. (Rimaliza Opiña)
