CEBUANO warrior Mercito Gesta will be back in action next month as he takes on veteran Mexican Genaro Trazancos in a 10-round bout on Aug. 20 at the Casino Del Sol, Tucson, Arizona.

Gesta, a former kickboxer, is off from a fourth-round stoppage victory over fellow prospect Oscar Meza last June to win the vacant World Boxing Organization NABO Youth lightweight crown.

The 22-year-old Gesta is on an eight-fight winning streak in the US, and is unbeaten with 18 wins and a draw with eight knockouts.

Trazancos, on the other hand, is a 15-year veteran. His record consists of 22 wins, 11 losses and a draw with 13 knockouts.

The 38-year-old Mexican once held the World Boxing Council Continental Americas and Fecarbox super featherweight title.

He has fought some of the marquee names in his weight division like the late Edwin Valero, WBO super featherweight champion Roman Martinez and Steven Luevano.
