Globe Telecom restores mobile services in Leyte

Sunnexdesk

GLOBE Telecom announced on Friday, July 7, that it has restored its services in Leyte after mobile phone signals in the province were disrupted due to the magnitude 6.5 earthquake that hit Jaro town on Thursday.

Globe said that though the tremor, which resulted in loss of commercial power, initially disrupted services in some areas in Leyte, they were able to immediately restore services by utilizing generator sets in sites affected by the power loss.

Globe, however, said that some areas in Tacloban City as well as Kawayan, Biliran, Liloan and Thomas Oppus in Southern Leyte may still experience poor mobile signal.

The telecommunication company assured all the affected users that its technical teams are now closely monitoring the network to ensure normalization of operations in all sites.

On Thursday afternoon, a 6.5 magnitude earthquake hit Jaro, Leyte that killed two and injured hundreds.

The Province of Leyte and Samar islands, as well as Bohol still have no electricity. Some areas in Cebu, Negros and Panay may also suffer occasional power interruptions. (PR/With SunStar Philippines)
