John Dave N. Casas

APPROPRIATE charges are set to be filed against a City Government employee who was arrested for firing his gun on New Year’s Day, the police reported.

Police Station 6, in its report to Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), identified the arrested government employee as Ricardo Estrada, 64, a resident of Estrada Street in Tetuan village, east of Zamboanga City.

The police said Estrada was arrested shortly after 9 a.m. on New Year’s Day after he fired two shots in the midst of a heated argument between him and Danny Estrada, a relative.

Estrada’s neighbors panicked when they heard gunshots, the police said, adding that during investigation, the government employee failed to present documents to show that he legally owns the 9mm pistol.

Responding policemen have recovered two spent shells of 9mm pistol from the scene of the incident.
