MANILA -- Government agencies have launched a program to speed up the issuance of business permits in cities and municipalities.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) jointly launched the nationwide streamlining of business permits and licensing system projects.

Officials plan to implement the project in September.

Based on a nationwide survey by the DILG, the average time to renew a business permit is five days and officials plan to cut it into two to three days.

Also, getting a business permit usually takes 10 days, and officials want to shorten it to five days.

A memorandum circular that contains guidelines in processing business permits will be distributed to all cities and municipalities. (Sunnex)
