Grenade blast kills elderly couple

Sunnexdesk

A GRENADE blast killed an elderly couple who was asleep in their house in Carcar City, Cebu yesterday.

Felipe Aller Nacua, 72, and his wife Felicisima, 70, did not survive the blast that struck their house in Sitio Kamanggahan, Barangay Napo around 1 a.m.

Police are still trying to determine the motive for the attack.

Acting Cebu Provincial Police Chief Erson Digal said that sometime last year, the Nacuas’ house was burned down, and Felicisima suffered second-degree burns. The couple, however, did not report the incident to the police.

They moved to another location not far from their old house.

Sitio Kamanggahan is some 10 kilometers from the city proper.

Digal said there was no indication that the attack was politically motivated.

Police recovered the safety lever of the grenade.

Explosion

Roberto Nova, a neighbor, told investigators that he noticed a man carrying a flashlight in the vicinity earlier that night.

Later, an explosion occurred inside the house.

The bodies of the couple were taken to the Tupas Funeral Homes.

Carcar City Police Chief Renato Malazarte said the two were farmers.(MEA)
