TWO collectors of a lending firm were killed in a robbery-ambush in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Thursday.

Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9) spokesman Senior Inspector Joseph Ortega said the incident took place around 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sitio Pulo Langan in the village of Poblacion, Kalawit, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Ortega identified the victims as Noel Daarol, 30; and, Remar Cano, 30. Both were collectors of Duane Jhon Lending Corporation based in Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Ortega said that investigation showed that the victims were aboard a motorcycle and collecting loans from their clients when ambushed by three unidentified gunmen.

He said the suspects carted away the daily collections of the victims, who died on the spot, and fled to unknown direction.

He said recovered from the crime scene were five empty shells of M-16 Armalite rifle and three empty shells of caliber .45 pistol.

Investigation continues to unmask the suspects, he said.
