Help sought for 2 abandoned babies

Sunnexdesk

THE Asilo de la Milagrosa is seeking the public’s help in finding the parents or immediate relatives of two abandoned babies who are now under their care.

Asilo is a licensed and accredited child-caring agency dedicated to the service of babies, toddlers, children and youth whose families are unable to care for them due to death, sickness, poverty and other social situations.

The babies, namely, Jamir Patrick Villarin and Stephen Alexis Pagaling, were abandoned by their birthmothers few days after they were born at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

The parents or immediate relatives of the two children are asked to appear at Asilo from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays to Sundays and look for social worker Sister Myra P. Mondia, or call (032) 232-2443.

Adoption

Failure of the parents or the immediate relatives to come to the center within one month starting today would mean declaration of the child’s abandonment for adoption through the Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWD) pursuant to Republic Act 9523.

The law, which was passed in 2009, requires a DSWD certification declaring a child to be legally available for adoption.
