Hotels, restos asked to give discounts

Vince Harlan A. Chua

CEBU Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale urged hotels, resorts and other establishments to provide discounts and offer promos to local and foreign tourists.

With booking cancellations experienced by some Cebu hotels and resorts because of the ongoing crisis in Marawi City, the Provincial Tourism Commission wants to revive the province’s tourism industry.

Magpale’s statements came after receiving reports that more tourists are reconsidering their plan to take a vacation in Cebu because of the armed conflict in Marawi.

Magpale believed that the armed clash will also affect he business industry and transportation industry if the National Government won’t address the matter swiftly.

As this developed, the vice governor urged the organizers of the annual Inter-Island Tourism Policy forum not to cancel their event.

Cebu will host the yearly tourism congress in August.
