A NEWBORN baby girl, with a still attached umbilical cord, was found dead at the dumpsite in Sitio Cabangahan, Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City Thursday afternoon.

The baby was found by waste picker, Reynaldo Lagtapon, 48, of Barangay Hilamonan.

Superintendent German Garbosa, chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said Lagtapon was sorting out wastes when he saw the body of the newborn baby in the area.

Lagtapon sought police assistance to bury the baby.

Garbosa said they are still conducting further investigation to trace the mother of the newborn baby.

The baby was buried at the Kabankalan City Public Cemetery. (MAP)
