DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte declared the month of July of every year as a City Disaster Consciousness Month in Davao City.

“With the occurrence of the fortuitous events such as typhoon, flood, earthquake, landslide, tsunamis and drought, the City Government of Davao City recognizes the value of setting aside a designated period for people to focus their attention on the need to prepare for national disasters,” the EO read.

This EO signed by Duterte last July 1 was based on EO No. 137 issued by former President Joseph Estrada on August 10, 1999, which declared July of every year as a National Disaster Consciousness Month.

The City Disaster Consciousness Month according to the EO will be “collectively observed by all residents of the City, through the conduct of fitting activities for the occasion.”

Davao City Disaster Coordinating Council will be responsible for the implementation of all programs and activities for the EO.
