Keeping Cebu safe during the summer

THE Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 has put in place security measures for the entire summer, including the Holy Week.

Supt. Reyman Tolentin, PRO 7 information officer, said they will ensure the safety of locals and foreigners who are expected to flock to tourist spots in Cebu and other provinces in Central Visayas.

PRO 7 will also keep an eye on towns in southern Cebu as several embassies’ advisory against travel to these places has not been lifted.

Gov. Hilario Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale had supported calls to lift the travel advisory issued in late 2016.

Tolentin said there are special police teams and intelligence operatives monitoring suspicious-looking persons.

He assured the public that southern Cebu remains safe from terrorist threats.

Tourists assistance desks will be put up in select places. Road marshals will also be deployed to prevent private and public utility vehicles from going over speed limits.

The marshals will help traffic enforcers manage traffic flow, said Tolentin. (KAL)
