THE 40th Federation of Duckpin Bowlers of the Philippines (Fedbop) Annual National Duckpin Bowling Championships is all set to roll off on April 24 to 29 in Kidapawan City.

Fedbop Chairman Emeterio Orteza, in a phone interview with SunStar Davao Friday, April 21, said the host city is 95 percent prepared, particularly in its security plan as it is the primary concern of the delegates.

Security personnel, he said, were already deployed to inspect the venue and surrounding areas.

Orteza underscored that Kidapawan City Philippine National Police (PNP) will provide a triple-layer security from the day the event starts until the final day.

The bowlfest features men's and women's categories.

"About 80 teams from all over the country will be competing," Orteza said, adding that Davao City teams will also show their wares in the annual tournament that offers cash prizes to the winners.

The champion team will romp away with P60,000 while the next three placers will take home P40,000, P30,000 and P20,000.

The opening ceremonies will start on Monday at the Provincial Capitol of North Cotabato in Kidapawan City. Guests expected are Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza, Mayor Joseph Evangelista and North Cotabato Representatives Jesus Sacdalan of First district and Nancy Catamco of Second district.
