CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The two children who were torched by their father died while their mother is still in serious condition, police said on Saturday, July 8.

Three month-old Clinton Igmat died a day after the torching incident last Wednesday, July 5, while one-year-old Jenny Rose Ramos died on Friday, July 7, while undergoing treatment at the Jose B. Lingad Regional Memorial Hospital in City of San Fernando.

Police said their mother, Jennylyn Ramos, 20, is still confined at the hospital and is in serious condition.

The three victims suffered severe burns when they were burned by husband and father, 25-year-old Ferdinand Igmat inside their house in Barangay Dila Dila, Sta. Rita town.

Earlier, Senior Superintendent Joel Consulta said Ferdinand Igmat, the live-in partner of Jennylyn had a heated argument over a Facebook post. He said that while the victims were still sleeping around 10:00 a.m. inside their house, the suspect poured six liters of premium gasoline on the victims and lit them using a match stick.

Neighbors who saw what was happening put out the fire and brought the victims to Jose Songco Lapid Hospital for medical treatment but they were transferred later to Jose B. Lingad Regional Memorial Hospital in the City of San Fernando.

All the victims sustained severe burns, Consulta said.

The suspect who suffered minor burns was also rushed to the Jose Songco Lapid District Hospital after being immediately arrested by responding policemen.

Consulta said frustrated parricide and murder have been filed against the suspect. (JTD with Ric Sapnu)
