Lacson eyed as next Negros mayors' leader

E.B. MAGALONA Mayor David Albert Lacson is being groomed to be the chairman of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Negros.

Lacson himself confirmed Friday that some of his fellow mayors have been discussing about the plan to make him their league chair, but the decision to put him as the LMP chair would also depend on Governor-elect Alfredo Maranon and third district Congressman-elect Albee Benitez.

He said he is ready for the job if given such responsibility.

Murcia Mayor-elect Andrew Montelibano said he is also in favor of making Lacson the LMP-Negros chair, adding that the E.B. Magalona mayor has already the support of Benitez.

Meanwhile, Lacson will take his oath of office on June 29 with Ilonggo Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri as the administering officer.

The town's vice mayor will take his oath of office with governor-elect Alfredo Maranon, while the members of the Municipal Council will take oath with Vice Governor-elect Genaro Alvarez on the same day.

Montelibano, on the other hand, will take his oath of office on June 30 at the Murcia gym with the municipal judge. The oath taking will start with a mass. (TED)
