CEBUANO junior netter Jacob Lagman won his second match in the 6th Leg of the Johnny Arcilla Tennis Circuit National Open at the Noah Tennis Club, Bacolod City.

Jacob upset the country’s No. 12 Juvan Divinagracia in a nerveracking, 6-2,6-7,6-1, win.

“It was a crucial game, but I remain calm and focus despite how hot the weather is,” said Lagman, who is only 15.

Jacob will be facing the country’s no. 5 Rolando Ruel Jr. in his next match and will have to string up four more wins to qualify for the championship round.

“We are happy for Jacob. Despite playing the country’s top players, he was able to pull it off,” said Jacob’s mother, Julie.

Jacob, who is an awardee of the Sportswriters Association of Cebu for 2009, is in the Bacolod tournament after getting a slot from the Philippines Tennis Association.
