Johanna Marie O. Bajenting, Kevin A. Lagunda

LANDSLIDES have been reported along some roads in the province of Compostela Valley due to nonstop raining since Sunday, January 1.

Clearing operations were ongoing in Nabunturan-Maragusan Road (Katipunan –Cambagang Section) and Compostela-Cateel Road (Barangay Ngan, Sitio Nursery Section), both of which are already passable since Sunday afternoon using one-lane traffic only.

Compostela-Cateel Road (Panansalan Village section) is not accessible as clearing operations and debris removals are still ongoing there.

The Compostela-Cateel Road (Panansalan Village, Spur 2 Section) is already passable although the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Davao is posting heavy equipment in the area in anticipation of more landslides.

The DPWH-Davao warned motorists “to take necessary precautions and alternative routes if possible.”
