Mabalacat City Government conducts surprise price monitoring

John Kevin D. Pilapil

THE local government of Mabalacat, in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), conducted a surprise visit to numerous supermarkets to monitor prices of basic commodities.

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo said the Public Market Administration Office and the DTI started the prices of goods to prevent overpricing by unscrupulous traders this Christmas season.

The city’s environment office, Business Permit Licensing Office, City Planning and Development Council, City Health Office, and other departments are assisting the price monitoring team.

Garbo said the initiative is aimed at checking the suggested retail prices of basic and prime commodities.

In addition to this, the mayor said the City Government may also determine prices freezing in case of emergency situations like calamities.

Garbo thanked the DTI for supporting the local government in its campaign against overpricing of products.
