Magnitude-5 quake jolts Surigao del Norte

MANILA -- A magnitude-5 earthquake struck Surigao del Norte early Sunday, February 26, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The tectonic earthquake, having a depth of 33 kilometers, was traced 123 kilometers northeast of Burgos, Surigao Del Norte at 2:57 a.m.

A magnitude-4 aftershock was recorded 106 km northeast of Burgos town at 5:27 a.m. It had a depth of 13 kilometers.

There are no reported casualties and damages caused by the earthquake. (PNA)
