THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) placed ABS-CBN's talent-reality show “Showtime” under a 20-day suspension order.

This rooted from the statement made by sexy star and "Showtime" judge Rosanna Roces pertaining to teachers.

On the January 7 episode of the show, Roces made a comment about teachers as “repeaters,” which earn a lot of buzz not only from the studio audience but also from the viewing public as well.

Evening the same day, “Showtime” made a public announcement that was broadcasted by Boy Abunda in his late night show "Showbiz News Ngayon" (SNN), saying the management of the show is suspending Roces.

On January 8, hosts Vhong Navarro and Anne Curtis explained the reason behind Abunda’s statement.

“Dahil sa mga hindi inaasahan pangyayari nitong mga nakaraang araw involving Ms. Rosanna Roces, minabuti ng pamunuan ng ‘Showtime’ na itigil ang pagiging hurado ni Ms. Osang mula sa araw na ito in the practice of self-regulation ng programa," Anne said.

Even though self-imposed regulation was made, the talent-reality show, which aims to give Filipinos a venue to showcase their talents, still received the suspension order.

And since MTRCB’s order was effective immediately, ABS-CBN stopped the airing of “Showtime” Tuesday, January 12.

In effect, “Magpasikat” took over the slot of “Showtime” wherein this time the show would showcase celebrities’ talents. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
