Man dead, 1 hurt in Valladolid road accident

A MOTORCYCLE driver died while his friend was injured after they hit a Ceres Liner bus in Barangay Poblacion, Valladolid, in Negros Occidental early Monday morning, May 29.

Senior Inspector Junji Liba, town police chief, identified the fatality as Jaynan Encila, 20, of Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City. Injured was Jefferson Libo-on, 22, of Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana town.

Investigation showed that Encila's motorcycle was tailing the bus on their way to Bacolod around 5:10 a.m.

Encila attempted to overtake, but instead hit the rear of the bus, Liba said.

Encila succumbed to head injuries, while Libo-on is confined in a hospital in Bacolod.

Both came from La Castellana town when the accident happened.

The bus was driven by Remzie Panes, 29, of Barangay Cambaras, Pontevedra town. He was detained at the police station, but will be released after the 18-hour reglementary period lapses.

Liba said Encila's family and the management of Vallacar Transit Inc. had an initial settlement after they met Monday.

The bus company extended assistance to the victims' families. (GYM)
