Man refuses breakup, takes lover as hostage

A MAN was arrested after holding his girlfriend hostage in Consolacion, Cebu, Monday night, September 18.

According to police, Gerald Wagas Malagar, 37, was allegedly mad at Diane (real name withheld), 36, for ending their affair. Dianne is married.

Before taking her hostage, Malagar went to Diane's rented house in Purok 4, Barangay Nangka, past 7 p.m. and pleaded that they continue their relationship.

But the victim refused. Malagar became angry and grabbed the victim then held her at knifepoint.

Diane tried to stop him, but she was overpowered and dragged by the suspect into the room. She shouted, alarming the neighbors who then sought the help of the police.

When authorities arrived, Malagar calmed down and surrendered. Diane suffered wounds in her hands. (KAL)
