Man shot by ex-soldier

A MAN was injured after he was shot by a retired soldier at Purok Narra, Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Thursday night, August 17.

Police identified the victim as Cornelio Bobo Jr., 29.

Kabankalan City police chief Rhea Santos said Bobo and suspect Artagnan Cerveza, 61, a former member of the Philippine Army, were having a drinking session around 8:30 p.m. when a heated argument ensued between them.

Bobo sustained a wound in his stomach and was brought to a hospital.

Cerveza was also injured when the victim hit him with a chair. He surrendered to the police through a village councilman.

Santos said the filing of frustrated homicide charges will depend on the results of their settlement.

Husband stabs wife

A woman was stabbed to death by her husband inside their house at Barangay Poblacion in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental early Friday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Jessica Jakosalem, 39.

Investigation showed the victim and her husband Noel, 40, had a heated argument over a motorcycle they both owned.

The wife failed to inform her husband that she used the motorcycle as a collateral to their debt in a lending firm.

Her husband got mad and stabbed her using a 12.5-inch bladed weapon.

The woman was declared dead at a hospital while her husband surrendered to the police. (GYM)
