ANGELES CITY -- Mayor Francis Nepomuceno Tuesday urged stakeholders and private sector partners to support the City Government’s bid to transform this city.
Nepomuceno made the “urban renewal” call, which aims to transform Angeles City into a “better place with balanced growth and economic-environmental harmony,” during the formal launching of the city’s Comprehensive Land Use Program (Clup).
“This (Clup) is very important to us because we will know what and how to use our land according to our plans. Through this master development plan, we will be able to distinguish what areas will for commercial, agricultural and residential. Our city is rapidly being urbanized and this land use program will put order and in the future see to its transformation and a better place for Angeleños,” said Nepomuceno.
The CLUP embodies some 108 priority projects. It will cover basically the city’s land area of 6,217 hectares, said Engineer David David, City Planning and Development Office coordinator.
He explained that Clup will focus on the Abacan River Special Development Center, where roads and bridges will connect to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, and where a linear park and commercial district will rise.
It also includes the indigenous people settlement area in Sapang Bato and a renewed central business district in Balibago, where tourism estates, educational, medical, and commercial centers will be improved.
