BACOLOD City Mayor Monico Puentevella said he is grateful for his linkages with his fellow mayors abroad when he attended the 6th World Cities Summit Mayors Forum (WCSMF) in New York City last June 8 to 10.

Puentevella said he foresees possible sister city agreements with highly developed cities in the world.

"I was able to talk during the forum. I was able to share pleasantries with the mayors of Rome, Oarkland, Bangkok and New York. They can help us with hospital and educational equipment once we enter a sisterhood pact with them," he said.

Puentevella arrived in Bacolod Tuesday from his trip to the United States as authorized by the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division.

During the forum, the mayor said they were able to discuss and exchange notes about housing, transportation, and economic development.

Puentevella also attended the 117th Philippine Independence Day celebration in New York where he gave a plaque and certificate of appreciation to the MassKara dancers - New York edition for being the champion in the Independence Day parade competition for three consecutive years.

The mayor also met with Philippine Consul General in New York Mario de Leon. CNC)
