Mikey is unfazed with pressure

FORMER presidential son Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo, the representative of Ang Galing Pinoy (AGP) party-list, will not let disqualification cases filed against him be a hindrance in serving his constituents.

"As long as I have the support of Ang Galing Pinoy, that's okay with me. The groups outside Ang Galing Pinoy are welcome to support me but if they choose not to do so, then I cannot force them," Arroyo said.

Arroyo also chided other group for condemning AGP like the Bayan Muna party-list.

Former Akbayan Representative Risa Hontiveros, and a group of tricycle drivers and security guards, which AGP seeks to represent, filed separate disqualification cases against Arroyo at the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET) last week.

The HRET is the only body tasked to hear any disqualification petition against duly-elected congressmen.

"When we legislate anyway, lahat nakikinabang so ako rin, when I legislate, ang makikinabang diyan ay lahat ng tao kahit wala sa aming party-list," noted the former presidential son.

According to the Secretary General's office of the House of Representatives, Arroyo has not filed any bill up to this day while he has earlier said that he intends to provide medical benefits to his constituents. (Kathrina Alvarez/Sunnex)
