LA TRINIDAD is eyeing a bigger trade fair to raise the needed P3 million funding for the different Strawberry Festival activities.

Tourism Officer Valred Olsim appearing before the Council's regular session this week said P500,000 is currently available for the festival but still needs other funding for the different activities during the month long festival.

According to the Strawberry Festival Executive Committee, P390, 000 was allotted for the street dancing, mini-float and drum and lyre competition of the different barangays and establishments.

The search for the Mr.and Miss La Trinidad was allotted P350,000 while the multi-cultural celebrations and "Owik kan Tayao" has P275,000 funding.

Other funded activities include commercial and agri-industrial trade fair, musical competitions, sports activities, job fair, pet show, weddings, among others.

The festival was institutionalized in 2011 through Ordinance No. 5-2011 authored by Councilor Roderick Awingan attested and certified by then Vice - Mayor Romeo Salda and approved by former Mayor Gregorio Abalos Jr.

The celebration is set to focus on the objectives of encouraging activties and program which promotes tourism and preserve the municipality’s attraction as the Strawberry Capital of the Philippines

The festival will also commemorate the Guinness Book of World Record Award of the town for baking the largest strawberry shortcake, promote eco-tourism programs enlisting participation among all constituents concerning cultural diversity and identity of the municipality.
